Sandalwood Spotlight

As we are easing out of the cold, dry winter, you may be wanting to add more moisture into your skin and hair. To add extra shine and moisture to dry strands,  apply one to two drops of dōTERRA Sandalwood to wet hair. It is restoring and moisturizing to your strands and will leave you feeling like you just left the salon.

One of the top benefits of this oil is the ability to promote a smooth complexion and healthy looking skin. Add dōTERRA Sandalwood to your skincare routine to enjoy newly rejuvenated skin. Take advantage of the grounding benefits by diffusing Sandalwood at bedtime to promote a relaxing environment for a good night’s sleep.

Sandalwood is a name given to a class of fragrant woods that, unlike other aromatic woods, can retain their fragrance for decades. Both the wood and oil have been highly valued for centuries and Sandalwood has a documented history of many applications. It was traditionally used as an incense in religious ceremonies and for enhancing meditation, and the Egyptians used sandalwood for embalming. Sandalwood is very beneficial to the skin; it can help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and it promotes a healthy, smooth complexion. Sandalwood has a sweet, woody aroma that can enhance mood and is frequently used in meditation for its grounding effects.

  • Diffuse or apply to the neck and shoulders at bedtime for a restful night’s sleep.
  • Add 1–2 drops to your favorite moisturizer or night cream for smooth, glowing skin.
  • Add 1–2 drops to a hot bath to promote relaxation and lessen tension.

Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Internal use: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
Topical use: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

*Restore dry skin with this Sandalwood, Peppermint and Melaleuca shaving cream recipe found here.
